Designer's Challenge

According to my trendsetting designer friends, Mayron and Marcie of Unique Unique Design, acrylic is in. They make it look chic and desirable. Check out the acrylic columns they have by clicking on their name up there. Wow.

So, I found these acrylic boxes the other day and I thought, "How cool would I be if I jumped on the acrylic bandwagon?" (I don't normally care how cool I would be...but, on this occasion, it happened.) It was one of those situations where I couldn't talk myself into them, but I couldn't talk myself out of them, either.

Yes. They are mine now. I succumbed to my own peer pressure. *smile* The first pictured one is divided in three sections. The next two have holes in the tops and side. The wood shavings tell me that these two with holes used to house small animals.

The boxes are heavy. And sure, those strap things need to be cut off. For the life of me, nothing is speaking to me about these. Maybe you can give me some ideas.

Here's the challenge. What would you do with these 3 acrylic boxes? Ditch 'em or decorate 'em and HOW?

If I ever find the person who messed up the alignment on this layout, I will kick their butt, by the way. ugh!

Be sure to check back tomorrow, as I will be hostessing a garage sale on my blog.

Happy Friday!

  1. Can't think of anything to do with them. You'd need someone create and someone with space. We've been so creative around here over the last few years I spent the day in tantrum chucking stuff just to get a path.

  2. Beats me, maybe snakelover could use them for snakes.
Can't wait to find out what you do with them.

  3. I'd stand the tall one on end (door to the back) and treat it just like a clear display shelf. Stand some books up in there on one shelf, add a statue of some kind, then add cool small things that somehow relate to each other.(shells, sponges, drift wood) I think they are cool. At least you wouldn't have to dust what was on display!

  5. I'm a big fan of lucite. After you clean them out, you could gather collections of shells, rocks, bird's nest, etc. Terrariums would be fun also. Would make cool bathroom cabinets. Just thinking aloud. Debbie

  9. Clean them up, put amazing things in them, then stack 'em and use 'em as a decorative room divider.

Our boys used them as snake and lizard holders.

  10. Yup. Cher and TOT had some good suggestions. I sold the longest one without holes. I'll clean up the other two and see what I can do with them, putting stuff in, etc. Thanks, y'all! ps...Cher, where have you been? ~Mindy
