Make your selection and email me at PrimitiquesNPoetry@yahoo.com . Upon knowing the shipping amount, I will invoice you via paypal some time Monday.

Thanks for stopping by!

Shoe Shine Brushes

Years ago, I was feeling creative one day. I had bought these cabinet door inserts at Canton. I think the trend at the time was stenciling on them. I'm not much into trends or arts and crafts, usually. These old shoe shine brushes were my grandfathers.
Short screws through the back did the job. Simple. I am so proud, because I DID something. *grin* Again, not my general inclination! I did it years ago and I still feel accomplished when I see it on the wall. Just thought I'd share.

I'm not at all sure that there will be a Saturday garage sale here tomorrow, as I have not managed to get anything together. Oops! Any requests? I'll dig around for your desires if you have any.

Happy Friday!

Gifts

This morning, I was the recipient of a gift. I don't know who gave it to me. It could have been Lolly, Fluffy, Tippy, Momma, BB, Newby or Butterscotch.
I am sure that I should feel honored by this gift. And had I known it was there, I most certainly would not have stepped on it with my bare foot.
I think it is a heart. This is what I stepped on. This gift.
And here are intestines. On my floor mat by the kitchen door.

It was a beautiful way to start the day, stepping on this gift. I know I felt loved and thought of upon finding it.

Do you get gifts from your outdoor kids?

Happy Day!

ps. I strongly believe that the being the heart and intestines came from, it died of natural causes. For sure.

Memories

Memories. Sweet memories. No. Not my memories. But, the memories of my neighbor, Sylvia. This Midwest tube console radio has been around since the 30's.
Sylvia's grandparents bought it brand new.
She remembers being a little girl and listening to the static and the news voices. She also remembers dancing to the music with her Papa.

Sylvia and her hubby recently moved into an apartment and she told me that she had no family members who would be interested in having this piece of family history.

I've often seen old pieces and wondered about the stories they could tell. This one came with sweet stories and memories. I hate that I can't keep it, but my home is filled with memorabilia from my own family. Maybe knowing about its' origins is what makes it more personal. Ya know?

It's for sale at Primitiques if it happens to call to you.

Happy Wednesday!

Faith, Hope and Love

Thanks to y'all getting my wheels turning, I made up some cards with the rubber stamps this morning.
If you are unaware, there is an art to using stamps! I am finding that rolling the stamp is pretty effective. Of course, you all knew this. But, I'm learning as I go.
See? I had to double some of the letters, after making them a little too light, or missing parts. Probably should just ditch those cards. But, I had to show you my efforts.
Yes. I am keeping the stamps. To those of you who offered to take them off my hands, I thank you. I am discovering the fun of stamps! Look out world!
Faith, hope and love. Let's show some love and offer up some prayers for Debbie at Talking Trash. Her daughter, Jennifer, is currently in the hospital, pregnant and diagnosed with preeclampsia. Jennifer is not due to deliver until July. Let's keep the family and medical professionals in our prayers. Swing on over to Debbie's blog and give her a hug.

Theresa has updates if you would like to check in with her.

1 Corinthians 13:13 (New International Version)
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Thanks and Happy Day!

Who's my Daddy?

My Dad is a junker. He has been a garage sale shopper, curbside junk picker-upper, auction goer, go-to junk guy, eBay seller for years and years. He happens to be my favorite picker. I get a lot of goodies for Primitiques from Dad's garage and pickup truck.

The other day I stopped by my folks' house and spied this beauty in the garage. I knew Dad would have aspirations for it...an eBay auction or a live auction in town. He'd have plans alright. But, when I hit my knees and started begging with tears in my eyes, he said "yes". Yes! YES! He told me I could have it for my birthday, which is a full 8 months away!
dad's 005
Thanks, Dad!

I promise to post pics when it is up on a wall in my house. Isn't it magnificent? In case you can't tell, it is about 2 feet high. It's humongous! Wonderful! I don't know if it works. Don't care. Love it! Here's one in working condition. I actually prefer it all white.

Happy Monday!

Signs of the Times - Garage Sale!

Where have you been? We opened last night. Lucky for you, I'm not too picked over yet. Welcome!
This garage sale is a little different. Not only is it starting Friday night, I am also trying to get some local traffic to Poetry. Some of the items in today's sale can not be shipped. You will have to come pick up some of the larger pieces. Sorry my faraway blogger friends!

I know I should have put some measurements on these, but I was in a hurry to get the pics and leave for work. Sorry! Holler if you need measurements.

Ready to peruse? Come and get it!

Click here and start looking. If you want to buy something, or ask me questions, or if you'd like to request measurements or more pictures, or whatever, please email me at PrimitiquesNPoetry@yahoo.com. If you tell me you want something, I will mark it SOLD on the flickr page so that others will know.

The fine print...my mother does my packaging and shipping with USPS. I've never sold to Canada, but, I imagine we can figure that out. Let's keep this to US and Canada buyers. Mom uses Priority Mail shipping, as boxes are provided and it gets the package to you fairly quickly. So, after you have made your selections, Monday I will take them to her house and she will package and figure the shipping. I will then invoice you via Paypal. If you have questions or want more pictures, please inquire.

And in case you missed it, all proceeds from these Saturday Garage Sales will help fund my trip to Round Top/Warrenton at the end of March. There, I will be taking pictures and later posting about all the great stuff, people and fun. So, consider this an investment in good reporting! *wink*

You will want to click on the flickr set to see all the pictures and the prices. But, here is a sneak peak at some of the listed items. Be sure to swing by Margo's Sunday morning. She'll be hosting a Sunday Garage Sale with lots of goodies.

Happy Junking Weekend!

Old Rubber Stamps

Rubber stamps. Here is a wonderful find from my very own garage. I tried to sell it in a garage sale a couple years ago for $20. Crazy people missed their chance! So, now that I have found it again, I am trying to figure out what to do with it.
Y'all know I am not a project person. The first thought was throw 'em all in a jar and adore them. My second thought was to buy some heavier stock paper and make word cards. You know...like flashcards. Hmm...wonder if those would sell. Otherwise, I'll close the cute wooden case and slap a price on them for Primitiques. Not sure which way to go.

As a follow up to Mammo Madness (yesterday's post), I thought I'd let y'all know that I spoke with my doctor today. She was appalled by the things the tech said to me and with my permission (and yours), she is going to contact the tech's supervisor. No one should be subjected to that talk. It would be one thing if she were a friend messing around...but, in a professional setting, it was wrong. Amen.

Happy Evening!

Mammo Madness

Warning. If you have no desire to read about the realities of mammograms (or aging), do not read today's post.

I had my annual mammogram today. The nice tech lady who did the honors kept me in reality, lest I was feeling young and cute today.

I told her that I had had a little tenderness and showed her where. She nicely told me that my issues might just be "gravity". Yes. She did. I swear she said that. Gravity.

She was then kind enough to tell me that any tenderness could be hormonal and that considering my age, I could just be approaching "the change." Yes. She said that. The Change.

Then, after gently slapping one of my breasts up on the shelf, she informed me that my breasts aren't too heavy like some women's. She said that some women have "watermelons". Yes. She did. She said that. In fact, she said "Some women's breasts are like watermelons and I don't know how they get out of bed in the morning with all that weight." Seriously!

After looking at my films, she said that I do still have some breast tissue which is dense, but not to worry. That dense breast tissue would soon go away with age and be replaced with fat.

She told me about her loss of sight and her gain of weight due to her advanced age of 50 something. You have got to be kidding. How did I draw this ray of sunshine?

Here's hoping that your next mammo is not as entertaining as mine! Seriously.

Happy Healthy Breast Day!

Recent Finds

I walked into the thrift store yesterday and look what I found...
Isn't this candlestick beautiful? I looked all around for a twin or a vase or some other family member. No luck.
See the cloth heads? What were they originally used for? Wigs? Hats? Display? Function? Do tell...
I like the idea of collecting them...but, my bet is that they will end up at the store.

Happy Tuesday!

Love Like This

In case you missed it on David's blog, I had to share with you an expression of love that I received from him on Valentine's Day. David put together this Shutterfly photo book titled "What I Love About You". It is 54 pages long with 216 photographs of the two of us, our families and friends, taken during our courtship over the last 17 months.
This picture is included in the book. It was taken on the first weekend that we expressed our love for each other with those 3 words, "I love you".

David touches my heart when he shares these words in the book (shared with his permission):

"If I could have custom ordered a woman with all the wonderful attributes I could have ever imagined, she still couldn't hold a candle to what I've found in you. Yes, you are everything I ever wanted, but so much more. You are also everything I didn't even know to ask for! That just goes to show you...God is way smarter than I am! It's as if God said, "David, I already know what you THINK you want. But, trust me, I have something so much better planned for you! Just wait until you see! You will be amazed!" And I am! And I'm so very proud to be the man you love!"

Never in my entire life have I been loved like this, nor have I loved like this. I have known familial love. Christian love. Friendship love. But, never, ever, have I known this kind of love. I am blessed.
I met David when I was 40 years old. To be cherished in such a big way, at this age, seems so miraculous! But, I guess, as David said, God had a plan. I just had to age before He was ready to reveal the plan, and David, to me!

The book? Amazing. The love? More than I could have ever known possible.

After my mother read the book, with tears in her eyes, she handed it back to me and said "Don't you ever, EVER (and I thought she was going to say don't mess up the book...but, instead she finished with) do ANYTHING to hurt that man!"

See? Even she knows what a precious blessing that God has given to me.

Back to junking tomorrow. But, love is GRAND, and I just had to share.

Happy Monday!

...did someone say drinks?

Why is Snakelover, aka David, smiling so big? He's ready to party with the best of them at Debbie's 100th post party. He has been asked to escort me, and a couple other beauties. Missing body parts do not bother David. After all, these ladies are dressed for some good times!
Here is Bertha. Yes, she has lost her head. But, she can still dress pretty! Love that blingy necklace. I do believe Miss Talkin' Trash would approve.

She's not just expecting a good time. Bertha is expecting to give birth(a)!

This chick, Lady Slick, is also missing her arms. It's easier when they come that way. I don't have to worry about them getting handsy with my man. The slick head? I like it. Wish I could get away with that! Less prep time, for sure.

Cheers! To good times and good friends. Happy 100th post, Debbie!
He wouldn't even pose with the armless chicks!
Debbie's parties are the best. Amy. We don't need no stinking mechanical bull. We have Oreo the longhorn!
Good times at the pool table! Cat Daddy, is that you under the table? Who is that with you?
I'm in!
Look at what Elvis and Harry parked out front. Cat Daddy and Debbie just came in talking about the size of the backseat. hmmmBe sure to check back tomorrow for Garage Sale Saturday. One word: enamelware. Two words: Cheap enamelware.

Happy Friday!

ps. If the picture is good, Snakelover probably took it. Give the man his props!

Challenge to the Press

You know who wears a 2Chippy's Junk Necklace. You know where to be Friday night. You better be ready for The Money Shot.
The Veranda has already teamed with Celebrity News for coverage. Theresa has hooked up with the Dallas Morning News to spread the gossip. Lisa at Antiques and More has gone independent with the promotion. It is your job, paparazzi, to catch her in the moment. You know who. Debbie at Talking Trash. The Queen of Bling. The Jewel. The Blond Bombshell! Cat Daddy's love. She's throwing a party and everybody who is anybody will be there.
She has been known to strike a pose. Here she is with Cher of Texas Woman fame.
Font size She posed with me once. Notice the bling. I expect full coverage of the bling, people.

Theresa and Debbie schmooz the lens for this one. Two beautiful people in one frame. What a catch!

Now your job is to catch Debbie in a weak moment. She can't always pose. Her grace can't always be impeccable. See what you can do. This is the party of the century. Do you want to be famous for capturing THE shot?

Focus, people. Focus!

What is your Favorite Part?

I want to know...what is your very most favorite part of junking? Is it the discovery? The buy? The bargain? The repairs? The project of making it something other than intended? The placement? The sale? Anything else? What's your favorite part?

I would have to say my very most favorite thing is the hunt and the find. Searching. Finding. Seeing it. Feeling it. Knowing that it is my next cool thing...for myself or for the store...I must have it. And if I get a bargain, I'm even more thrilled!

My least favorite? Projects. I am not a project person. Candy? The woman seems to have been born for projects. Creative is her middle name, I am sure! Margo? Her wheels don't ever stop turning. Amy? Dang! The things she comes up with! Me? Hate projects. Hate 'em. Not my thang.

I would like to buy it cheap, sell it cheap, and later, hear about all the cool stuff you did with it. Heck, make money off the cheap stuff I sell you! I'm good with that.

This weekend, I'll be on a project. Gotta figure out how to tear up the dang wicker sofa so I can sell springs to someone. Do you know anybody in the market for cheap springs?

Happy Day.

Buyer's Remorse - SOLD

Update. The sofa sold after someone heard the rumblings of parting it out. She's a purist, like me. It will continue to live it's life as a sofa for now. Yea!

Y'all know that I embrace imperfection. I, somehow, thought someone else would too, when I bought this white, wicker sofa for resale. It sits beautifully! Comfy. Sound. Nice lines.

Yes, it has flaws. But, remember? It's sound. Great lines. Cool color, even! Can't go wrong with white.

Yes, it needs good cushions. Easy fix at Pier 1. But, would you fall for it?

Buyer's remorse? Yes. This thing needs to go. You Texas folks are invited to make an offer. Come get it. No offense can be taken. Please, I am begging. David offered me money to throw it in the trash. I think it is worthy of a home. NOT a trash can! I'll take the highest offer, ending tomorrow at 6pm, Texas time. I guess you'll have to leave it in the comment. Seriously. Let's get this thing loaded up into your truck, asap. We'll start the bidding at $20. Yes, I paid, uh, considerably more. But, let's start there. I'm willing. Are you?

So, have you ever bought something that you felt "stuck" with? Share. Share.

Happy Day!
