What is your Favorite Part?

I want to know...what is your very most favorite part of junking? Is it the discovery? The buy? The bargain? The repairs? The project of making it something other than intended? The placement? The sale? Anything else? What's your favorite part?

I would have to say my very most favorite thing is the hunt and the find. Searching. Finding. Seeing it. Feeling it. Knowing that it is my next cool thing...for myself or for the store...I must have it. And if I get a bargain, I'm even more thrilled!

My least favorite? Projects. I am not a project person. Candy? The woman seems to have been born for projects. Creative is her middle name, I am sure! Margo? Her wheels don't ever stop turning. Amy? Dang! The things she comes up with! Me? Hate projects. Hate 'em. Not my thang.

I would like to buy it cheap, sell it cheap, and later, hear about all the cool stuff you did with it. Heck, make money off the cheap stuff I sell you! I'm good with that.

This weekend, I'll be on a project. Gotta figure out how to tear up the dang wicker sofa so I can sell springs to someone. Do you know anybody in the market for cheap springs?

Happy Day.

  1. I love every part of junking!
But I have to say my most favorite is finding the treasure at the cheapest price!
I also love redoing them to fit into my home!

  2. You are too sweet! What's my favorite part? Hmmm...I love finding a piece that inspires me! I really, really love the bargain. And I love the creativity of repurposing unique items and incorporating them into my home. My absolute favorite part...sharing it with friends near and far! I've met the most wonderfully creative and caring people through junking and blogging! Including you!

  3. Thank you Miss Mindy! Yes, I like me a good project but I actually get more enjoyment from finds that stand on their own, repurposed in new ways. I totally get how you like to buy things, so others can make cool stuff from it though. I'd love to go in that direction as well someday.

p.s. wire snips and some gloves should do the trick. Ebay or Etsy the heck out of 'em when you're done!

  4. Mindy, I'm kind of with you on the thrill of the hunt, the looking and searching, not knowing what you'll find and then the find itself. The feeling that I get when I see it and know that I just have to have it. And if I get it for a bargain price, well that's the icing on the cake!

  6. My favorite part is having Cat Daddy get out of the truck, dig around and then motion for me when he finds something I'll love.

I used to buy projects but not any more. I'm too lazy and not creative enough to repurpose anything. Cleaning it up and pricing it is just about it for me.

My biggest thrill comes from seeing and passing on something because of the price.....then later finding it somewhere else priced much less! Coincidence? I think not! I don't pass the 2nd time, but snatch in a hurry.

  7. I like to find the perfect thing and instantly have the crafty idea about it and see it through.
I can't believe you'd take that wicker apart..oh well, what if you make more than you paid for it by the idea of the springy thing and ebay/etsy! Cool and good luck!

  9. I love it all too! The hunt is great, fixing it up or creating something new is always fun, and then when we sell it, its so rewarding to see how happy and excited a person is when they've found the perfect thing.

  10. My 1st favorite part is the find!! I get the little jumps in my heart (like when you see a deer about to jump in front of your car going 80 down the highway) when I see something that has true bones of becoming something else. Then I stop all other activity in my life (even eating) to make it something else -- i just feel like "WOMAN, HEAR ME ROAR!" when it's something totally not what it was first intended for!

  11. This was fun! You know what I hear in every single response? PASSION. Pure, sweet, beautiful passion. I love hearing it.

  12. My favorite part is finding something I recognize, something that speaks of value to me, not of money but of something deeper. And then if I can get it for peanuts, well, then there's the rush!

  13. That question's a no brainer....the hunt, and the SCORE! That's the best part. Second is the reward of a happy customer when their jaw drops because they've found the "OMG...that's the best thing I've ever seen" thing.

Hey, those springs, that can be a tough job. Try cutting the small wires in between and then see if they'll turn off the flat metal piece. Good luck, they'll be worth it!
