Deals and Steals

It looks like an old trophy, doesn't it? I think it's actually an old sugar bowl without the lid. I found this at my favorite thrift store today.
This tray is old and very heavy. Cheap, cheap at the thrift store. he he he
David and I hit an Estate Sale this last weekend. It was more like a Mass Exodus Sale. The people were selling things out of dresser drawers. I seriously think they were selling the sheets off the beds. I bought a shower curtain that had recently been removed from the rod. I am wondering if Momma got arrested and they were trying to raise money for her bail. Or, maybe, they were about to get evicted and they didn't have enough boxes to pack everything. Who knows? Anywhoooo...see this clock? Eight bucks. Westminster Chimes. It works. Beautifully. I keep waiting for the police to knock on my door. The people who really live at the house probably just got home and discovered all their property had been stolen. Eeek! Until then, I promise to think about them every quarter hour, when the chimes echo off the walls of my home.

Happy Wednesday!

  1. I think lots of people are selling off their things because of the economy. I bet they are proud that their beautiful clock found a happy home to live in!

  2. WoW! You got a great deal on that clock!
Maybe the people were moving and couldn't take the things with them!
Hopefully it isn't the home owner coming home to an empty house scenerio!

  5. Great clock...I just hate to think someone might have been selling stuff to pay the light bill or some other bill. Oh well, you still got a great clock! Debbie

  6. Y'all have such tender hearts! I truly think they were moving, from what I could tell. Maybe because of eviction. Dunno. First, let it be known, I paid what they asked. No bickering. Second, they gouged me on the "modern" things that I bought. So, whatever their cause, I helped. ~Mindy

  11. It's fun to speculate about what might have been happening. It did seem like their exodus was on very short notice and they seemed unconcerned about what was being left behind. I'm not sure a steam cleaner can save those carpets.

  12. Sometimes you just hit the right place at the right time. I was at a sale once and asked if I could look at boxes they had of trash. You can't imagine what they thought was junk. It was history! Two loads in my car later...
