Happy New Year!

I mentioned somewhere my last post that David and I would spend New Year's boot scootin'. Here we are thinking all is well at that place.
Isn't David handsome in his hat and western shirt?
Well, we were there a while, with about 20 other people, when we realized it wasn't 'all that'.
We heard a total of 3 reasons, from the owner, as to why our expectations might not be met at this joint.
Neither of us was impressed. We did enjoy James "Slim" Hand and his band. We enjoyed a few dances around the floor, shining each other belt buckles. But, after a few hours, we decided that the New Year would be better celebrated alone, at our lodge, Le Shiloh Shabby Chateau. I'm not even going to mention the name of the dance/steak place again. Free advertizing should be about positive, don't you think?

We headed to the chateau and enjoyed the New Year, just the two of us. Check back soon to hear me drool over our lodging. Lee and Rick are da bomb.

Who needs a dance floor when there is perfectly enough space at Lee's place to dance?

Happy New Year!

  2. The Rickster and I just busted a button laughing at those pictures... You both look really good, even irritated... we already miss you both... Le Château is dark and lonely...and misses you too. Grace and Delilah say hurry back, we are warm and inside... sorry about the spur...what a disappointment.
Our doors are open for you both anytime...so glad we got to meet. We hope to see you again in the spring.

  3. No matter how much we females enjoy getting a night out, nothing compares to being at home alone with our sweetie. After many many years of bringing in the New Year in loud, crowded, overpriced places, I can say with all honesty...there's no place like home! Especially on New Year's Eve! But, it had to be worth the effort just to see David in his jeans and boots, he's certainly easy on the eyes, isn't he! You look adorable together!! Happy New Year to you both! ~LA

  5. I don't want anyone to get the impression that we didn't have fun. We were together, after all. Hello? We ALWAYS have fun! And we made the best of the Sacred Spur. But, yes, it was a little disappointing because the evening had so much more potential.

Meanwhile, Le Shiloh Shabby Chateau was everything it is billed to be and MORE! It was just WONDERFUL! I can't wait to show the pictures! It's a beautiful, peaceful retreat with a gorgeous lake view and all the conveniences of home. In addition to stocking the refrigerator with snacks and drinks, Lee and Rick even left us a complimentary bottle of very good Champaigne to celebrate the New Year! Isn't that sweet? Le Shiloh Shabby Chateau is a little over two hours east of Dallas and I would highly recommend it for a convenient and romantic getaway. We expect to go back before the year's up. Mindy and I don't often "repeat" vacations or trips. At least not without a lot of time and other trips in between. But Le Chateau is special.
