Organ Lamp

Have you ever heard of an organ lamp? I had not. This was originally a kerosene lamp, but has been updated to electric. The age is probably late 1800's. Amazing piece, if you ask me. I'm on the lookout for a globe, but, it stands alone quite nicely.

As you can imagine, the show is drawing nigh and my time is running short. Forgive the short post.

Happy Weekend!

  1. What a strange creature. Totally functional though, even in its transformation.

  2. I have never seen or heard of an organ lamp. Is it a decorative globe that would go on it? I like how ornate the iron is. Sweet find!

  3. Gale, I have been researching it from the moment I got it. Most globes I have seen are of a Victorian nature. Painted on with flowers or courting scenarios. The brand is Rochester if you'd like to google around and see what there is to see. They seem quite rare from what I can tell. ~Mindy

  4. That is the most unusual lamp I have ever seen. I looked up organ lamp and found some great examples with beautiful etched globes. Looks like you've found yourself a gem!

  5. I did an online search also, because I didn't know if I had seen one before, but I have in some really high-end antique stores. They are an incredible find!
Now, I'm thinking black with cobwebs and que the scary haunted house organ music with a hunchback at the keyboard.

  6. Mindy, thanks for the map the other day about the show. I can now sorta see what it is like. Hope you do well and hope to see you there again, in the Spring. That lamp is great!! sandi

  7. That's a really pretty lamp. I've never seen one like it. Cool find!

  8. The filigree on the sides of old pieces get me everytime ~ wonderful vintage piece!
    Fall Blessings,

  9. I just bought on of these yesterday, It is adjustable, black and brass. I just love it. I am going to put a round glass Gone with the Wind typ shade on it. Yours is quite a beauty too!
