Otherwise Occupied and a Focus Group

David tells me to stop going to the store to see if there are walls up yet. Something about watched pots and boiling water. I haven't driven by since Friday. I sure do wonder what's going on up there. But, the effort to be otherwise occupied isn't too difficult considering everything that needs to be accomplished before the grand opening.

I have a group of friends that have been designated as my "focus group". They are pretty quick about giving input and I just love 'em for it! However, I feel like I am slighting you the opportunity to give a little input. Wanna be in a focus group regarding my new store? If you are anything like me, you are chomping at the bit to share your ideas!
Egg nog in Texas mason jar
Most of you know I love me a good mason jar. David confesses that he can't drink out of one. Something about a dribble factor. (Bless his heart.) Do tell. (Here's your part.) Besides as a fine eggnog container, what uses are there for a mason jar?

I look forward to seeing just how creative y'all are! (In the meantime, maybe I could just drive down to the store and see if it has walls yet) (don't tell David!)

Happy Monday!
~Mindy

  1. Put a wire on the top and make a loop, then drop a candle inside and hang it from your favorite tree...instant romance!

  2. Put a black and white photo in the jar, top it with a zinc lid and use it as a cool picture frame!

  4. OK...this is my last one. AND it's my favorite! I have a sand collection. Every beach I go to, I get some sand. I fill up the jars with my sand, attach a old store tag with some jute twine and put the date and the place where I picked up the sand...

  5. I like to fill about half full with pinto or black beans, then place your votive in the middle, tie some old lace around the top and place in the center of an ole primitive table on some "scrunched up burlap"! Looks great as part of a center piece for a Texas style BBQ!! Forgot....Don't cook the beans! LOL

  6. I use my mason jars for wildflowers around the house!!!! For that fact any flowers will do! We still poke holes in the top and catch fireflies with the little ones! We put them in the freezer for a really really cold glass of milk. Dang, I really am red neck, but a proud one :)!

  9. I like the pendant lights made from them and the glass flower pot votive holders at Wal~Mart fit right in the top for a candle, leaving the bottom to fill as you wish. I've also seen a chandelier made with them. My Moma just has the old blue ones lining a shelf around her kitchen.

  13. I CAN drink from a mason jar, it's just that my lower lip sometimes gets a little cross-threaded! ;-)

When you're going fishing, you can keep the earthworms in there!

  14. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO with MALisa on this one.....

they are really good to store un-twined ribbon in, punch a hole in the lid, sand the hole - then feed the ribbon thru... use to your heart's content (or you run out of ribbon).

    or....
they make good bb gun targets...

    or...
they hold tractor oil pretty good...

    or...
fill 'em up with sand and use them as weights to try and diminish the 10 minute wave that my arms have...

    or...
fill 'em up with some margarita.

    ;-D

  15. Silverware holders, flower vases, pencil holders...ok, I feel like I'm being too simple here. I've seen them used as candle holders outside. I use them to store dry beans, lentils, nuts, etc.

Sorry, I don't think I'm any help. I just state the obvious. :-(
