Happiness Abounds

Are you starting to giggle?
Giggle
Does the idea of playing Dress Up with me and Robelyn make you laugh out loud?

Giggle
Or are the butterflies trapped inside?
Robelyn grins
We may have to have a change of costume, mid-party. There are way too many cute old clothes in our closets! The blue dress that I am wearing has been in my closet for so many years, I can't remember whose it was...Aunt Bert's? Grandmom's? A lady who died and I never knew? Hmmm Robelyn is sporting a wonderful bed jacket. Love it!

Here's our first costume change. This 70's dress is what inspired the Dress Up Party. I fell in love with it! And that party gown of Robelyn's? Check out those daisies on the collar line. Sweet!

Here's a pleasant pheasant at Primitiques. He doesn't have a change of clothes.

This old school table has some very interesting graffiti on the under side. If you lay on your back under the table and look up, you can be entertained and/or insulted for hours.

Yes. Primitiques (<--- click there to see pictures from the beginning of time) is changing locations. Stay tuned for more information. We'll be packing up June 26. So, get here when you can!

My future, dare I say, is so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Starting this morning, every item of Primitiques merchandise is 25% off the lowest marked price. Now, if that doesn't make you giggle, I don't know what will!

Are you coming to the Dress Up Party?

Happy Wednesday!

ps. David has declined to dress up for our party. Not even an old polyester tie! But, he will be there looking handsome and taking our pictures. Reckon we ought to let him off the hook?

Good Friends, Good Taste

I like having friends with good taste. It sure makes my shopping sprees easier!

Earlier this week, I paid Alston's a little visit. My friends, Richard and Jo Ann, had a bunch of shoppers when I was there. As well, they should! The shop and yards are stocked with great stuff! I talked Richard out of this wonderful wind sculpture. Thanks, Richard!
Sculpture
The wind helps it move back and forth. Way wonderful, isn't it?

It's in my front yard right this very moment, moving in the wind. *smile*

This morning, I drove into town to see the Debriz show. I do love a garden show! Here are Debbie and Fran, mugging between sales.
Smiles from Debbie & Fran
I did take a few pictures. Let me tell ya, I know a lot was gone. And I know a lot was sold. I saw "sold" tags everywhere! Happy for them. Sad for me. Oh, I said something about pictures, didn't I? Click here for the album, and don't forget the slideshow is a good way to view.

You want to see what I bought from these friends with good taste? I got this hospital screen and these plant stands.
Hospital Screen
And this. Ahhh. This. It's an old car hood with vents. Maybe someone would like to show off their good taste and tell me what automobile and year model this came off?
Hood
Do you like it? Although the Debriz show has ended, you can still enjoy shopping with Cat Daddy & Debbie and with Liz & Fran, at Winnie & Tulula's. Their good taste is all over inside that store! Sweet, huh?

Wouldn't you agree that my friends have good taste?

You know Robelyn with red.neck Chic? She has enough good taste to keep me in handbags for the rest of my live long days. This hair-on with fringe had me giggling the moment I laid eyes on this bag! Check out that belt buckle.

And then, there is this side with the denim and beautiful blue fabric. Dang, the girl has skills and good taste!
red.neck chic purse
Robelyn has an etsy shop. She sells in Hillsboro, and she has a line of purses that I carry in my store in Poetry.

Between Richard in Garland, Debbie & Cat Daddy and Liz & Fran in Athens, and Robelyn in Hillsboro and in Poetry, what are you waiting for? Fire up your gps and make plans to visit my friends with good taste this weekend! And take pictures! I want to see what you get.

Happy Weekend!

Friday Shopping in Terrell

I know, I know. Everyone is talking about rain. But, please. It barely sprinkled in Poetry or in Terrell this morning. I believe I mentioned that Liz & Fran and Debbie & Cat Daddy are holding a home show in Terrell, didn't I? Well, hello? It's still going on tomorrow (Friday). Getcher self there! That back yard is large, and treed and cool and canopied. You will find bottled water and great stuff from 9 to 5.
Debriz You can make a day of it, really.

Not 5 minutes from 804 Ninth Street is 107 N. Blanche St. A nice little store called jRne is at that location.

And then about 10 minutes away is 19026 FM 986, the home of Primitiques inside Jack's Town & Country.

Your gps should be told that all addresses are in Terrell. It will guide you around like it knows what it's doing.

Why not enjoy a day of shopping in Terrell? I'll be at 9th Street in the morning and then I'll swing by Primitiques real quick. Hope to see you!

Happy Thursday! ~Mindy

You Gotta Go!

Wondering what to do with yourself the next couple days? Kilgore and Terrell are fine destinations, let me tell ya!

Tomorrow (June 10) morning, folks will start lining up outside of the private residence of Judy and Bill Hill in Kilgore, Texas. Why? Because it is time for another JHillDesign home show! Judy will open the doors to her home at 10am sharp. And let me tell you. Are you listening? You want to be there. I kid you not. The woman has got skills. Here's a little write up about it. Here are pictures David took at the 2009 spring show. You will not be disappointed! Just holler at her at her blog for the address. Love her! Get there.
Judy's
Get there early, fill up your truck, get home, empty, and then head to Terrell, Texas with more cash.
Debriz The talents of our own Debbie and Cat Daddy along with the outstanding skillz of Liz and Fran will have you doing the happy dance that you hit Terrell!

While I can't make it to Judy's show, I will be shopping the Debriz sale Friday morning. Maybe I'll see you there. Leave me something, would ya?

Happy Wednesday! ~Mindy

Junk & Disorderly Name Dropping

When bloggers show up at any event, it's a party!

I spent Friday playing in my space at Winnie & Tulula's, adding new goodies, preparing for all of my blogger buddies.

And then Saturday was all about the fun people who came out for some cool shopping and visiting in Athens. I'm sure I didn't get pics of every blogger who came, but I got a few. Wanna see? Here comes the name dropping part. If you are unfamiliar with these ladies, be sure to check 'em out. They are all a delight!

Here's Margo from Margo's Junkin' Journal and Valarie of the Red Shed Girls.
Margo & Valarie
Adrienne of The Flying Bee came all the way from Louisiana to visit with Cat Daddy. Maybe she shopped a little, too?
Danny & Adrienne
Lezlee of Prior dropped by for some quick shopping. Her schedule was full that day!
Lezlee
Miss TnT, aka Trash Talk, aka Debbie was there when Robelyn, our red.neck Chic sweetheart, dropped by to say hello. Linda of Willow Nest was in on the visiting, as well.
Debbie, Robelyn and Linda
Debbie's daughter, Jenn of Preemie Donna, brought Bella out for some visiting. Don't get all jealous, but I held Bella and I sang to her and we might have danced just a little bit!
Jenn & Bella
Now what, I ask you, is a party at Winnie & Tulula's without Angelique of Six in One Hand? She took a 4 hour tour with her hubby and 14 year old son to come see us. It was great to see her!
Angelique Mugs
I even met a lurker or two. Did you know that there are people out there who read our blogs and never comment, nor do they post? Sure nuff! It was fun meeting them. Now I know who my stalkers are! he he he

Click here to see all the pics I took.

Thank you to everyone who came out to shop and visit! And a BIG thanks to those of you who blogged about the Junk & Disorderly Sale!

Soooo, want in on the next scheduled fun in Texas? I'll tell you about this weeks events tomorrow.

But, make plans now, my blogger friends. We'll be opening our doors at Primitiques for a Dress Up Party, Saturday, June 19 from 10-3. Come One! Come All! Wear a little vintage or retro somethin' somethin'. We'll have vintage hats, new and old bling, and you know that red.neck Chic bags will be on hand for accessorizing. And Yes! We can help accessorize your home, too! Bring your measurements, trucks and trailers. We promise a good time and some good shopping!

"Cool" stuff in Athens!

I do love me some Friday! Today is really cool, because I took off work for the Spelling Bee tonight. Also, I am spending the day re-working my space at Winnie & Tulula's, getting ready for the big Junk & Disorderly Sidewalk Sale tomorrow. Indeed. We will be wheeling and dealing, inside and out this Saturday from 10a-5p. 119 E. Tyler St, Athens.

You know we have an air conditioner, right? Seriously. We don't fool around with comfort. We are even providing cold drinks while you shop! Since we are less than 30 minutes from Canton, you really have no excuse not to come see us. Here's a map from Canton to our place. Easy trip, huh?

I picked up this double stand yesterday. I like it because I can just see it now...both sides filled with ice. Beer and wine coolers on the left. Sodas and waters on the right. BBQ, spelling bee, whatever kind of outdoor celebration you may have planned, this is your cooler!
Beer to the left, Sodas to the right

Check out this old coop roof. Talk about styling, cool chickens! I am thinking it would be great rigged as a light fixture. Can't you just see it hanging over an old farm table?

Make a great Light Fixture
If you want to cool off and go fishing at the same time, this old canvas, tube float might be what you are in the market for.

And these chairs? Uh huh. These babies will be taken to W&T's today. Don't you love 'em?

Chairs again

Just click here if you'd like to see my most recent acquisitions. It's all headed for the big sale in Athens. Hope to see you there!

Happy Spelling Bee Day and Happy Cool Weekend!

Spelling Bees make me Smile!

On May 27 of 2009, I posted about the Scripps Spelling Bee. Click HERE to read what I had to say. Go ahead. Click. I'll wait right here. It's decent reading.

This right here, people, is the Super Bowl of Spelling Bees. I take off work to watch it. Seriously, I do! This year, my favorite form of television entertainment will be broadcast Friday, June 4, 8p/7c on ABC. I have my cold drinks chilled and my hand ready to cover the words on the screen so that I can guess out loud. If I can get the etymology, I am so much better. Reckon my college foreign language diction classes are kickin' in? Who knows?

Have you been to Robelyn's blog the last couple days? She is hosting a spelling bee. Go HERE to participate. You could win a red.neck Chic handbag AND some wonderful, fun Sweet Talk tags made by Janet from another Planet, herself!

Need not be present to win. No membership required. This is not a membership drive. You don't have to follow Robelyn or Janet anywhere. No buttons to pick up and deliver. This is a simple little contest. I love those kind! Just guess how many misspelled words are in her post and email Robelyn or comment on her post.

(This picture was stolen from Robelyn without her permission.)

So, get to rearranging your Friday night schedule. I want to hear all about how much you enjoyed the Spelling Bee! And get yourself entered in that drawing. You know you love that bag. And those Sweet Talk tags are the funnest! (I stole this picture, too)

Happy Thursday! ~Mindy

Swap News and Party at W&T's

The Clothes Swap was a great success! We enjoyed a wonderful brunch Saturday morning at my home. It was enough to make me giddy when Robelyn refrained from burning my house down as she fried the bacon!
Robelyn not burning my house down
We had 10 gals come to my house with armloads of clothes. I used a total of 5 clothes racks. A double one for dresses and skirts, 2 racks for jeans/slacks/capris/shorts, and 2 racks for shirts and light jackets. There were shoes and purses and jewelry and swimsuits. My friends were READY to clean out their closets, and did they ever!
Staci, Donna and Rhonda checking out the tops
Picking out new-to-us, free clothes was fun!

When it was all said and done, everyone walked away with new duds and we had stacks of clothes to donate to a local charity. Here is my car loaded to the roof!

A feel good/feel good situation, any way you look at it! (Plus, there was bacon.)

What's on the agenda next? This Saturday, we'll be in Athens at Winnie & Tulula's, celebrating 1 year with a Junk & Disorderly Sidewalk Sale. In addition to many dealers having discounts on their spaces inside, many of us will be set up outside on the sidewalks with bargains galore!

I do believe I've heard rumblings of some famous bloggers making appearances.

Rumors I've heard include a visit by the wonderful and fun Angelique of Six in One Hand. Will she bring her mason jar? We'll just have to see!
Angelique
Robelyn of red.neck Chic said she'll drop by. What kind of wonderful bag will she have on her shoulder? I can't wait to see!
2010May29-31_Memorial Day weekend 037
A little birdy told me that Adrienne of The Flying Bee is swinging by all the way from Louisiana. Gotta love her!
Adrienne

Who else? Oh! David of Student of Life said he would come and help me. He rocks! And you know he'll have his camera so you better wear something pretty!
David and his dog
Are you coming? I hope so!

Happy Monday! ~Mindy
